College- BA Political Science & Spanish, University at Buffalo. Regardless of my area of study- I started working in the marketing/advertising/PR field. I got my first post college job as the upstate NY regional event manager for a marketing company based in manhattan (I worked for them while in college also, then moved to full time once I finished)- then decided to explore image marketing with a local Rochester company- got married November 11th 2006- moved to alabama in 2007 for my husbands job (engineer)- picked up a smelly dog along the way. THEN in 2009 we had a son (he is almost 18 mo. old!) and moved back to Rochester. Most recently- I came out of retirement, and I am back to work - on my own marketing venture- and do marketing/site design/inbound marketing/internet marketing/SEO for my clients. I went to Penn State for my Elementary Education degree and while
there, I met my husband in the marching Blue Band. We are both
teachers (he's a music teacher) and we were married in June of 2005.
State College, PA, was then our home for 2 years while he did his
master's degree and I taught 4th grade. In 2007, we moved to
Thailand to begin our international teaching experience at the
International School Eastern Seaboard for 3 years (Joe music, me 4th
grade). Summer of 2010 will be quite eventful as we're celebrating
our 5 year anniversary, we're expecting our first child in July, and
we're moving to Japan in August as Joe is taking a new music position
at the Osaka International School in the fall! I will also be
finishing up my master's of Library Science degree by the end of the
year. Life is always exciting! :)

Ben Gallina

After H.S. graduation, Ben Gallina stayed close to home to attend the Eastman School of Music, where in 2004, he received his Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance. He is now a bassist, composer, and improviser currently based in New York City. He performs in a broad spectrum of musical settings, from jazz, orchestral and new music to rock, improvisation and world musics.

In 2008, Gallina formed the band Salo, an ensemble that derives its unique sound from the players' deliberately impromptu interpretations of Ben's expansive compositions. Salo has recorded their debut album which will be released July 27, 2010 on Innova Recordings, the label of the American Composers Forum, but is available pre-release at http://www.innova.mu.

As a member of the Smooth Maria, his music has been featured on ABC’s Private Practice, and NPR’s Song of the Day, and hailed for songs that "sneak up on listeners - that begin harmlessly but ultimately overwhelm with the weight of their poignancy, sorrow and joy." [NPR] Other performing highlights include a national tour with rock band HoneyHoney, opening for the multi-platinum band, Lifehouse. A 2008 summer residency with the Mettawee River Theatre Company, and orchestral performances with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, the Astoria Symphony, and New Amsterdam Symphony Orchestra.

Ben now lives in Washington Heights (the Northern tip of Manhattan) with his girlfriend of 5 years, Lilly Wasserman, who works with at-risk youth in the NYC area. There he continues to enjoy pursuing his various endeavors in performing, recording, teaching and composition.

"Studied Psychology at Utah Valley University after High School.

Married the love of my life and best friend, Dave Owen, in May of 2005 and this summer we are living in D.C. where he is doing an internship for the Government Accountability Office.
He has 1 year left of his Masters at Brigham Young University (Provo UT--where we live during the year). While he's busy working this summer, I'll be having fun doing volunteer work for the National Downs Syndrome Society :)
I'm currently not working because of some serious health problems (I was diagnosed with Lupus at the end of our Senior year) which is also why we don't have kids yet, BUT we are putting in our adoption papers through LDS Family Services sometime this Fall and we're sooooo Excited!!! (I'm sure you don't have to include the health bit, hehe).
When my husband graduates, we plan to move to the Portland OR/Vancouver WA area and work in the International Non-Profit Management world. We are so excited!!!"
